June 12: Bryce Canyon National Park is a truly amazing place. Set at 8,000 feet, the temperatures are usually quite moderate and the hiking is phenominal. These red sandstone "hoodoos" tower above the canyon floor. Just outside of the national park is Ruby's Inn, kind of a high-end tourist-centered trap, which, among other touristy things, offers an all-you-dare-to-eat dinner buffet. Burning every bit of 10,000 calories this day and feeling very depleted, I refueled my system with lots of fresh greens, veggies, and fruits. Working so hard everyday it's impossible to eat too much. I continue to lose weight even as my strength increases.
