June 12: Sunday had been a very strenuous day so Monday was to be a short 23 miles to a little-known spot off the main route about 10 miles, called Kodachrome Basin. It seems that a few years back a National Geographic group had explored this region and, because of the many colors of the rock and cliff formations, dubbed the place Kodachrome Basin. It really is a special place of peace and beauty. One of the residents of the basin is the "Chuckar Partridge". Being late spring, there were many families of Chuckars throughtout the park, together with the many Cottontail Rabbits made for very entertaining wildlife viewing.
