May 29: The views toward the summit were spectacular. The morning air was brisk, but not as biting as the days before. Today the first goal was to climb 7500' Carroll Summit. This 12 mile ascent took us through some deep desert canyons, lush green oasis fed by a swift running stream, and wonderful pine forests. it was a beautiful climb that took nearly 3 hours, but the reward was a rapid, but cold descent.
