August 24: Not captured, but the bolts of lightning became powerful and frequent. The last three miles into Jeffrey City it all broke loose, with downpours of hail and bucket-loads of rain. Out in the middle of the plains, there was nowhere to go for shelter. Once in Jeffrey City we took shelter in the bar/cafe where they invited us to bring our bikes inside and wait out the storm. After eating, we were told we could pitch our tents under the former Lion's Club picnic shelter. I slept like a baby.
