July 2: Having taken a number of days off in the Denver area to visit with family, I rode south to Pueblo and then turned east and bid farewell to the Rocky Mountains. The original plan was to head north toward the national parks of Wyoming and Montana, but that route had to be scrapped in favor of taking the Trans America route east and on to Washington, DC. It is at this point that the trip took on a whole new complexion.
