June 26: Cottonwood Pass (Continental Divide) 12,126 ft.—Having reached the summit, the wind was howling and the temperature was 29 degrees (according to my cycle-computer), contributing to uncontrollable shivering. After a few quick photos it was time to descend the eastern side toward the village of Buena Vista. I shivered terribly the entire 25 miles downhill. A hot shower was in order to warm the bones.
