28 March: At 12,700 acres, the beautiful San Luis Reservoir is the largest off-stream reservoir in the U.S. The surface of the reservoir lies at an elevation of 544 ft (166 m), with the O'Neill Forebay below the dam at 225 ft (69 m) above sea level. Which means that the water for this off-stream reservoir is actually pumped up hill from the San Luis Creek and the O'Neill Forebay below.
