August 1: It was not uncommon for local folks to make their way clear across the road to ask about the journey. The Fullers were one such couple at Falls of Rough, Kentucky. It was also here that I met Dan Bowman of Oregon, a fellow cross-country cyclist. Dan was riding a recumbant and seemed a little road-weary. I think meeting up with another rider may have helped to lighten his load. While our riding pace wasn't compatible, Dan and I would meet each other on and off for the next several days. What a great guy. I really regret not getting a picture of Dan.
