June 16: It was threatening rain so we decided to take a short day from Torrey to Capital Reef Nat. Park--about 23 miles. This is a little known park that is over 100 miles long with amazing archetecture and formations. Running thru the park is the ???? River, creating a lush, green and fertile corridor. Next to the campgrounds are planted acres and acres of cherries, apricots, apples, peaches, and pears. Guests are welcomed to pick what they want if eaten within the orchards. It was the end of cherry season and the Mulberries were also plentiful. Each of us had red and purple stains on our mouths and even on our clothes. It's a dangerous thing to let hungry bicyclist into an "all-you-can-eat orchard!" (The pictures of Capitol Reef National Park and the beautiful ride along the river corridor didn't turn out at all.) Meanwhile, here we are taking a break in the 100+ degree desert region north of Hanksville, Utah. (Apologies for all the foor-quality pictures.)
